This course covers fundamental concepts for the design, use and implementation of database systems. Concepts include basic database modeling and design, query optimization, concurrency control, recovery and integrity.
This course introduces students to important topics related to creating a vibrant learning environment in higher education. Questions to be explored together: Who are our students and what learning environment do they need to succeed? What are best practices related to curriculum development? What pedagogies influence curriculum development? How can assessment be built into curricular design? How do co-curricular activities support student learning? Participants in this course will be using their experience as well as multiple external sources and class discussion/projects to explain the changing demographics in higher education and the curricular and co-curricular structures needed to help them succeed.
RIS 502: Risk Assessment provides an introduction to a generic risk assessment model as well as to several qualitative risk assessment techniques. Students learn to apply qualitative techniques.
